On 11 March 1804 (11 Ventôse in the 12th year of the French Revolution), vintner Martin Prieur's two sons Claude and Jean left theirhisto2.JPG (12531 octets) native Burgundian village of Change to buy an estate in Santenay known as Château Perruchot.

This enormous estate not only included vineyards, but extensive agricultural land, a mansion house, farmer's accommodation, cellars and superb vaults dating back to the 15th century.

According to the deed drawn up by notary Maître Gonon of Autun, this property of some 22 acres had belonged to one Jean-Jacques Bertonnier de Lejeuntois of Autun since the Revolution. He in turn had purchased it from the Perruchot brothers of Chalon, whose father had been equerry and secretary to the French Court at the Dijon Parliament Chancellery.

After the Prieur brothers, this noble estate passed to the heirs of Jean, the only one of the two being blessed with descendants.

Jean and Claude Prieur were followed by Claude Prieur Ponnelle, then came Jean-Baptiste Prieur Blondeau, Jules Prieur Saladin and Georges Prieur Collin.

In 1955 the marriage of Guy Prieur of Santenay to Elisabeth Brunet of Meursault gave new life to these vineyards, and together with the newly integrated Meursault property, it became known as the Domaine Prieur-Brunet.

Mr and Mrs Guy Prieur have two daughters : Dominique and Chantal.

In 1976, Dominique married Claude UNY. Today, Dominique works on commercial development while Claude is in charge of technical processes : cultivation and vinification.

The estate covers more than 50 acres of vineyards located in the 6 principal wine villages of the Cote de Beaune explaning the diversity and quality of the wine produced.
